Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area is 600+ acres of woods, trails, streams and ponds with a picnic shelter, cross country courses for Marietta City Schools and Marietta College teams, disc golf course and other amenities available to the public. Marietta City Schools hosts the Elizabeth S. Broughton Cross Country Invitational every August. The “park” is managed and maintained by The Broughton Foundation.
Tax-deductible gifts to the Broughton Wildlife and Education Area Fund help support improvements, educational activities, environmental study and outreach projects.
Good Life Marietta was launched by the Marietta Community Foundation to showcase our area to prospective businesses, employers, residents, visitors and students through lifestyle video profiles of local leaders like one of our tenants, Jerry James, President of ARTEX Oil Company.
Marietta Community Foundation was founded in 1974 and headed by the late Carl L. Broughton.
Marietta High School Rowing is based in the Carl L. Broughton Boathouse on the west bank of the Muskingum River. Tax-deductible gifts to the Carl L. Broughton Boathouse Endowment Fund are used to improve and maintain the Boathouse which is also used by the Harmar Rowing Club and the Marietta Rowing and Cycling Club.
